Saks Fifth Avenue has opened its first stand-alone shoe store as part of what ultimately will be a collection of specialty shops in Greenwich, Connecticut.

The store takes its name from the department at Saks' New York City flagship.

It's the first of several planned specialty stores and a renovation in Greenwich that the company describes as "its new Greenwich ecosystem: The Saks Shops Greenwich."

The Vault will feature fine jewelry and open in February 2017, and The Collective for modern designer fashion will open in May. A renovation of The Main store will be unveiled later next year.

"Saks has been a part of the Greenwich community for 20 years, and the market is integral to our evolution and growth strategy. 10022-SHOE Greenwich marks a new visionary concept for the brand," stated Marc Metrick, president, Saks Fifth Avenue. "Moving key categories – shoes, jewelry, contemporary ready-to-wear – to their own specialty shops brings the luxury boutique experience to the next level."

Saks' strategy is to differentiate and grow both its flagship stores for the luxury shopper and a format that is more focused on off-price shoppers, including millennials, with the acquisition and addition of Gilt shops in Off 5th locations.
