Wayfair teams with Porch for home installation

Online retailer Wayfair is teaming up with Porch to connect shoppers with service professionals to help with home improvement projects.

Porch is a home services platform that connects consumers with home professionals.

Through the Porch Retail Solution, Wayfair shoppers who need help with tasks such as furniture assembly or installation of products such as lighting and plumbing will be able to purchase those services at checkout and set an appointment with a qualified Porch professional.

The partnership is now available to Wayfair shoppers in 15 markets including Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and Chicago.

Wayfair has been implementing technology behind the scenes to create more personalized shopping experiences and has used augmented reality to reinvent its catalog.

"With this Porch partnership, we are able to offer services that further enhance the shopping experience and make home decorating and renovation easier for our customers, " said Steve Oblak, senior VP and general manager, Wayfair. "Porch is ideally positioned to deliver quality home installation services through their ever expanding network of background-checked and guaranteed professionals and we look forward to delighting our customers with this enhanced offering."

Wayfair operates multiple banners in the home category including Joss & Main, AllModern, DwellStudio and Birch Lane. It reported revenues of $2.25 billion in 2015.
