Walmart.com, Staples veteran joins Newgistics as CIO

Newgistics, an end-to-end commerce solutions provider for retailers and brands, hired Gene Wojciechowski as CIO, with responsibility for providing executive leadership and strategy for all of the company's core technology operations.

Wojciechowski has 30 years of experience in IT leadership, including CIO roles at Walmart.com and UPS Freight Services.

He joins Newgistics from Staples, where he most recently served as VP of global technology for the North American commercial and supply chain division. Wojciechowski supported all of Staples' North American distribution and fulfillment centers, and led a project that launched e-commerce sites in six countries within eight months.

As CIO at Walmart.com, Wojciechowski implemented the site's first mobile application, along with a function that allowed for same-day pickup on online orders according to in-store inventory. He was responsible for product development, engineering and site operations, and global e-commerce engineering.

Earlier in his career, Wojciechowski served as VP of technology as Ensenda, with Ikea, Best Buy and Home Depot as clients.

"Newgistics is the only company that can support the entire e-commerce lifecycle—from a customer's device to their doorstep—making Gene's experience in both e-commerce and supply chain technology a perfect fit for both of us," said Bill Razzouk, Newgistics' CEO. "With an extensive background leading technical teams at some of the world's largest retail organizations, his unique knowledge will help empower the brands we work with so they can stay at the forefront of digital commerce innovation and deliver the experiences that will keep their customers loyal."

At Newgistics, Wojciechowski and his team will design and develop innovative technological solutions that allow for rapid and sustained growth, hoping to maintain the company's position as a leader in e-commerce logistics and transportation.

"Retail and commerce technology has always evolved fairly quickly, but never at the breakneck speeds we're seeing right now," Wojciechowski said. "The convergence of digital and physical worlds, and the ubiquity of mobile technology make this a very exciting time in our industry, and Newgistics has put itself in unique a position to lead the way in bringing it all together. It's rewarding to be part of a company that will help retailers navigate this revolution in how people shop." Press Release
