Walgreens Banks On A Historic Building For Chicago Store

With the stores of big retail chains becoming more and more standardized (ever walk into a store in an unfamiliar city and instantly know exactly where the item you were looking for was?), it's nice to see there are still some, even at the biggest chains, that don't fit the mold. Walgreens (NYSE:WAG) put a new store in what had been a landmark bank building in Chicago's Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood, and instead of gutting the space, it built the store around the existing vault, safe deposit boxes and teller area. The result isn't something that lends itself to a simple planogram, but there's no chance you'll automatically know that vitamins are in the vault. Story
