Verizon vet joins American Apparel as CIO

American Apparel announced Brian McHale as its newest senior VP and CIO, reporting directly to CFO Hassan Natha. McHale has 25 years of experience in IT, business intelligence and big data solutions, including time at DirecTV and Verizon.

As CIO at American Apparel, he will be responsible for IT, computer systems, and onsite hardware and software application support. McHale will work closely with Thoryn Stephens, chief digital officer, to expand and implement American Apparel's retail digital capabilities.

"As we continue to implement our multi-year turnaround, Brian will be an important asset to the company," said Paula Schneider, CEO of American Apparel. "Brian brings deep experience in his area of expertise, which will undoubtedly have a significant and positive impact on American Apparel."

McHale's experience specifically includes transforming companies to cloud-based infrastructures to increase efficiency and cost savings. He has also done work for agency clients, including turnaround businesses like American Apparel. Press Release
