Target to sponsor live performance during Grammy Awards

Target (NYSE:TGT) is no stranger to exclusive products and partnerships with celebrities, and now the retailer is teaming up with Gwen Stefani for a live performance during the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Stefani has a new album and will perform live during the Grammy Awards—not on the show, but during a four-minute commercial break. The live performance will be recorded as the official music video for a new song, "Make Me Like You."

The live event will take viewers through set and costume changes in real time and will include guest appearances, among other surprises. Viewers can follow along on social media as Target will offer extras on Periscope, Facebook Live and Snapchat, using the hashtag #MoreMusic.

Target is also offering an exclusive version of Stefani's new album, "This Is What the Truth Feels Like." Fans can pre-order the edition, scheduled for a March 18 release, on Target's website.

Last year, Target offered viewers a sneak peak of a new song by Adele during the awards program. The retailer has also experimented with live programming. In 2014, it integrated real-time shopping into an episode of TV's "Cougar Town" and more recently has been creating shoppable mobile ads.
