Spotlight On…Winter weather dampens restaurant traffic

While severe weather dampened traffic at U.S. restaurants in the first quarter of 2014, delivery orders increased, according to new research from The NPD Group.

Traffic at all U.S. restaurants declined 1 percent in the quarter, but delivery orders increased 4 percent. Plus sales of hot tea, hot chocolate and "frozen/slushy" coffee saw double-digit increases, according to NPD's CREST market research. Story
