E-commerce brand Sole Society opened its first brick-and-mortar in Santa Monica, California. The announcement comes just a few months after the women's footwear and accessories retailer raised $8 million from Nordstrom and Inisght Venture Partners.
"As we look toward the future of Sole Society, we see great opportunity for growth as we move beyond our online roots and bring existing consumers and new shoppers into our branded brick-and-mortar retail," Sole Society CEO Andy Soloman told Women's Wear Daily.
Sole Society was spun off from HauteLook in 2011 when the flash-sale site was bought by Nordstrom.
The new store promises to carry exclusive items not found on the e-commerce site. The brand plans to rotate selling items from categories such as home, beauty and apparel.
Sole Society joins the growing list of e-retailers dabbling in the brick-and-mortar space. For example, Sole Society's news comes just one day after online shopping destination Gilt announced the launch of an in-person shopping experience for members at its New York showroom. Other online retailers testing out physical spaces include Birchbox, Bonobos and Rent the Runway.
