Signet Jewelers hires first chief strategy officer

Signet Jewelers, owner of Kay Jewelers, Zales, Jared The Galleria of Jewelry and other brands, hired Uta Werner as its first chief strategy officer. She will report directly to Signet CEO Mark Light.

Werner will be responsible for strategy development and execution, including identifying growth opportunities, overseeing mergers and acquisitions, monitoring long-term trends, gathering competitive intelligence, driving cross-business-unit initiatives, and sustaining business model innovation.

"Uta will help us further differentiate and strengthen our position as the world's largest retailer of diamond jewelry," Light said. "This role is critical to the transformation of Signet and the creation of an organization that supports Signet's Vision 2020 and our future growth."

Werner was most recently exec-VP of global product leadership at Nielsen. In this role, she built an advanced analytics business that helps consumer products manufacturers and retailers leverage big data to optimize and manage in-store and online sales drivers.

Prior to Nielsen, Werner was VP of strategy and later chief strategy officer at Xerox. Overall, she has more than 20 years of experience as an advisor to senior management and investors. Press Release
