Sears (NYSE:SHLD) announced "Reserve It," a new service that lets its Shop Your Way loyalty members identify apparel and footwear items, place them on hold and then go into the local store and try them on. The new shopping program is available in time for holiday shopping.
"Time is often the greatest gift one can receive during the busy holiday season and Reserve It gives our members that gift," said Leena Munjal, senior VP, Sears. "Reserve It combines the digital world of e-commerce with in-store shopping–including the ability to touch, feel and try on clothes and footwear–to streamline and personalize the experience for our members like never before."
Members begin by logging onto their Shop Your Way account and selecting a local Sears store. When looking for apparel and footwear products, searches will now show items in-stock at that specific store. Once a member clicks on a product and selects an item, it can go to "Reserve In Store." The customer will then get an email or text notification when the product is ready to try on.
Once at the physical store, members will find their items labeled and ready to try on at the Reserve It rack located in the apparel section. Reserved items will be held for 48 hours.
"Reserve It is a more efficient way to shop for clothes and shoes," said Munjal. "Instead of browsing through racks to find your size, color and style, you've already browsed with a few clicks online, and when you arrive at the store your selections are hand-picked, ready and waiting for you to try on."
Reserve It is another step in Sears' multi-channel shopping options that connect in-store and online experiences. Other integrated retail options this holiday season include in-vehicle pickup and return or exchanging items in minutes, all using the Shop Your Way mobile app. The company also offers free in-store pickup at more than 2,000 locations nationwide and the ability to remotely speak with a sales assistant for members only.
