Saks to open first Canadian locations in February

Saks Fifth Avenue (TSE:HBC) will open its first two Canadian stores in February. The company plans to open eight locations total in Canada over the next several years.

The first location will be a 170,000 sq. ft. flagship in the Hudson's Bay building at Toronto's Eaton Centre, resembling the New York flagship location, Retail Insider reported. Hudson's Bay Company has been the parent company of Saks since the end of 2013.

The Toronto store will also offer personal shopping, a service that provides guests with a stylist who travels to a home or office with specifically selected merchandise. These personal shoppers can also provide beauty services, styling and tailoring.

The second Saks Fifth Avenue in Canada will span 130,000 sq. ft. in Toronto's Sherway Gardens. This location will be more open, allowing customers to browse the merchandise. Like the Toronto flagship, this location will also contain a Pusateri's Fine Foods

Eventually the retail brand plans to open its designer shoe salon, 10022-SHOE, and the exclusive shopping club, Fifth Avenue Club, in Canada. Other Canadian locations are planned for Montreal, Vancouver and possibly Calgary.
