Richard King joins Digimarc board

Digimarc announced that former the president and COO of Albertsons, Richard King, has been named to the company's board of directors. King has 45 years of experience in the retail, consumer goods and food industry.

"Dick King understands our vision for dramatically enhancing the retailer's efficiency in its front of store operations with benefits flowing directly to the bottom line; and appreciates how we can improve the shopper's experience through faster checkout and mobile consumer engagement both in the store and at home," said Bruce Davis, CEO of Digimarc, in a statement. "Dick's wealth of experience and business acumen are tremendous assets in our quest to transform retail."

King began his career with Albertsons in 1963, moving through several senior management positions including president and COO. He later served as VP for Associated Food Stores, which supplies goods to more than 550 stores, and was president of two of that group's subsidiaries, Fresh Market and Associate Retail Stores. He replaces Peter Smith on the board, who had held his position since being elected in April of 2000. Press release
