Analysis found a reversal of recent trends showing that Thanksgiving store openings were pulling shoppers from Black Friday sales.

Retail visits for Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday declined a combined 1% when compared to the same days in 2015, according to ShopperTrak. However, on Black Friday, shopper visits were flat. Analysis of shopper visits found a reversal of recent trends showing that Thanksgiving store openings were pulling shoppers from Black Friday sales. Fewer store openings on Thanksgiving Day, as well as growth in online shoppers, proved that Black Friday was still a meaningful day. (PR Newswire)
