Eddie Bauer and Pacific Sunwear talk merger

Eddie Bauer and Pacific Sunwear are exploring the possibility of a merger in order to weather a downturn in sales and to consolidate their store footprint. Both retailers have previously declared bankruptcy and are looking to once again grow. (Reuters)

Best Buy's store sales up 7%

Best Buy reported a strong quarter, as some store sales rose 7.1%. Net profit also rose 11% to $208 million, an impressive growth amid the closing of 250 locations. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

Ahold Delhaize launches digital entity

Ahold Delhaize USA announced the creation of Peapod Digital Labs, a digital and e-commerce technology experience, led by new president JJ Fleeman. The new entity aims to ramp up digital and personalization for Ahold Delhaize and oversee online grocery Peapod. (Progressive Grocer)

Amazon adds 1,000 jobs in Michigan 

Michigan is giving Amazon $4 million to open another facility in the state and in return, Amazon will created 1,000 full-time jobs at a $150 million fulfillment center in Gaines Township. This will be the fourth warehouse in Michigan and the state has authorized grands to each since 2016. (The Olympian)
