QVC Launches Social Site toGather

In a social networking landscape dominated by the likes of Facebook and Pinterest, QVC (Naasdaq: LINTA) – the cableTV retail shopping giant – is the last place you would expect to find a rival.  But QVC wants to be just that with the launch of toGathar, a social network designed specifically for QVC shoppers.

QVC hopes to bring together like-minded shoppers through the online community, in an attempt to drive even more revenue to it's already $2.9 Billion a year in e-commerce sales.

The move comes just nine months after QVC acquired Oodle, an online classifieds site which powers Facebook Marketplace. QVC, which reaches an estimated 250 million homes globally, began beta testing the program earlier this summer.

On toGather, shoppers can follow people and brands as well as set up and curate their own online product collections.
