Publishers need to become retailers in order to survive

Most book publishers see Amazon—pressuring them to lower their prices and profits—as the enemy. As a result, the reaction among publishers has been to protest the online selling giant. But publishers seem to be losing, as 40 percent of all physical books and 70 percent of all electronic books are sold through Amazon.
