Pier 1 Imports promotes new CFO

Pier 1 Imports announced that Senior Executive VP and CFO Cary Turner has retired, and Laura Coffey has been named executive VP and interim CFO, effective immediately.

Coffey is a 17-year veteran with the company, previously serving as senior VP of planning. A Certified Public Accountant, she joined the retailer in 1997, holding several positions including VP assistant controller, principal accounting officer, senior VP of finance, and senior VP of business development and strategic planning. She led the launch of the company's e-commerce site and its omnichannel strategy. Before joining Pier 1, she held positions at Alcon Laboratories and KPMG.

"We are delighted and fortunate to have Laura serve as Interim CFO," said Alex Smith, president and CEO, in a statement. "She is a strong and experienced executive who brings both financial and operational expertise to this role. Having been with Pier 1 Imports for over 17 years, Laura has a keen understanding of our business, culture and long-term vision."
