PetSmart sets the mood with new music program

PetSmart is turning up the mood music in stores with Mood Media that differentiates playlists between the shopping environment and the store-within-a-store PetsHotel on-site boarding facility.

Music in the larger store environment features an upbeat playlist for pets and pet parents. Those staying at the on-site PetsHotel will be treated to more mellow tunes, creating a calm environment to help pets relax.

The program runs on Mood's ProFusion iS internet platform and includes a web-based digital media manager to schedule playlists and add voice messaging. The system can be controlled at the corporate, regional and store level.

The solution is rolling out to all PetSmart stores, more than 1,450 locations.

PetSmart has been on an expansion tear, with plans to add up to 80 locations this year. The company also recently upgraded its order management support systems to bolster e-commerce capabilities.
