Petco debuts remodeled look

Petco has debuted a newly remodeled look in 12 stores in Seattle that's designed to foster more connections in a physical environment, with services not available online.

A concierge desk offers advice on pet nutrition and training, and helps customers schedule appointments and sign up for classes. There are in-store demos, product sampling, and a "Critter Connection" area where people and pets can play and try out products.

The stores also feature a more neutral color palette and are indicative of Petco's new format following its sale in November to CVC Capital Partners and the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board for $4.6 billion.

Petco has embarked on an aggressive store expansion program with 32 new stores already opened in 2016 – 31 Petco stores and one in the Unleashed by Petco format.

Four more stores are scheduled to open this month, all with dog training areas, adoption centers and grooming salons.
