Office Depot using virtual reality to drive innovation

Office Depot is collaborating with InContext Solutions to leverage its online 3D virtual reality platform to help drive innovation in store design and customer experience.

InContext's ShopperMX platform creates virtual reality simulations to help streamline processes for better conceptualization, promotional planning and category management. It also creates a better way for stores and manufacturers to collaborate, according to Mark Hardy, InContext Solutions CEO.

"Office Depot immediately understood the value of virtual reality and how it can improve their internal processes. We are delighted to work with them to develop unique and engaging in-store experiences that will resonate with their shoppers," he said.

Virtual reality is garnering attention as a way to create excitement in stores, but the technology is also being applied at an enterprise level to help with store planning.

"Virtual reality will allow us the convenience and simplify the process of creating and testing concepts that resonate with shoppers," said Stephanie Gutierrez, VP of marketing, Office Depot. "With ShopperMX, Office Depot is investing in virtual reality technology as a priority to continue to innovate while better anticipating customer needs."
