Newegg updates gaming website

E-retailer Newegg has unveiled the next generation of GameCrate, its website for video game enthusiasts.

The retailer began publishing content one year ago at the GameCrate launch. The site includes editorial content to educate users about the latest gaming-related news, products and media.

"The future of e-commerce lies not only in the ability to deliver great deals and stellar customer service, but also to provide customers a content-rich experience," said Soren Mills, chief marketing officer of Newegg North America. "GameCrate covers all the aspects of video games: PC, console, e-sports, hardware and software, and you can buy everything right on-site. It is the ultimate content-retail combination."

The content on the site ranges from video trailers to promotions on the latest gaming gear. The latest revamp includes an updated video section, a streamlined front page to browse all recent stories and a redesigned calendar to keep readers informed about upcoming title releases.

Trying to stay ahead of the curve, last fall Newegg launched a subscription service for frequently ordered products and supplies. And beyond free shipping on all orders, the retailer is one of a select few that accept Bitcoin virtual payments for orders in the United States and Canada.
