ModCloth names former Urban Oufitters exec as CEO

ModCloth announced that Matthew Kaness will take over as CEO on January 19, 2015. He replaces co-founder Eric Koger as the online retailer attempts to scale its operations and expand distribution.

Kaness most recently served as CSO at Urban Outfitters, where he was responsible for heading executive focused growth and innovation starting in 2007. He has experience with direct-to-consumer expansion, new concept development, international partnerships and supply chain optimization.

Eric Koger has acted as CEO of ModCloth since 2002, and will remain with the e-commerce retailer to aid in the transition. Susan Kroger will continue to serve as chief creative officer.

"I am elated to join the ModCloth team," Kaness said in a statement. "I admire how Susan and Eric have built a large and fast-growing business around a highly engaged and loyal community. The company is innovative and creative, celebrates the diversity of its community and includes its customers as part of the experience." Press release
