Mobile now 50% of Gilt Groupe sales

Flash sale retailer Gilt Groupe now has more than 50 percent of its revenue coming from mobile, but not all product categories are performing equally.

"Some categories we haven't been able to bridge as much as others," said Cynthia Kleinbaum, Gilt's director of loyalty marketing, at the Mobile Marketing Summit in Rancho Mirage, California. "Ready-to-wear has been a challenge, not so much accessories and handbags."

Shoppers are more inclined to buy luxury items and accessories online, including Hermes handbags and jewelry, than apparel. Still, mobile is critical when it comes to establishing shopper loyalty, contributing to more than just sales. Story
