McDonald's names first VP of digital

McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) has named Julia Vander Ploeg its first ever VP of digital in the United States, as the company continues to build out mobile and social programs.

Vander Ploeg will report to McDonald's chief digital officer, Atif Rafiq, reported Ad Age. She will be responsible for the chain's digital strategy including "enhancing our customers' restaurant experience, more relevant ways to share our story and how customers engage with our brand," according to a spokeswoman.

McDonald's has been making moves in mobile, including several mobile ordering tests. Story
