Macy's tests mobile-enhanced dressing rooms

Macy's has refitted two departments in its Manhattan Beach, California store with new technology that lets shoppers see every item on a mannequin, scan a tag with a mobile device, and have the selected size and color delivered to the dressing room.

In April, Macy's announced the test of this technology by Hointer. The lingerie and swimsuit departments were redesigned to feature display mannequins rather than just racks of clothes; converted an old storage room into a mini-warehouse; and then cut holes in the dressing rooms to install chutes, which deliver items to shoppers.
