Loblaw appoints Pavi Binning to board of directors

Loblaw, Canada's largest retailer, announced the appointment of Pavi Binning to the position of director of the Loblaw Companies board on Aug. 14.

Binning currently acts as president for George Weston, where he has been director since 2012. He joined George Weston in 2010 as CFO after a year as director at Loblaw. Binning also acted in executive positions at Nortel Networks, Hanson, Marconi and Diageo.

"I am pleased to welcome Pavi back to the Loblaw board," said Galen Weston, executive chairman and president, Loblaw. "Pavi's experience and expertise developed over a career of executive management positions in large international companies, as well as his knowledge base in Canadian grocery retail, will complement and strengthen an extremely capable and robust board."

Binning's return to Loblaw comes on the heels of Weston's promotion as president in July. Weston owns George Weston Ltd., which is Loblaw's biggest shareholder. The company announced a number of other impending executive shifts in July, including the coming appointment of Mike Motz as president of Loblaw-owned Shoppers Drug Mart at the end of the year, and the coming appointment of former CFO Sarah Davis to the position of chief administrative officer. Press Release
