Kroger names group VP

Kroger (NYSE:KR) announced the promotion of Mary Ellen Adcock as group VP of retail operations, effective May 16. She succeeds Marnette Perry, whose retirement was previously announced.

Adcock currently holds the position of VP of operations for Kroger's Columbus division.

"Mary Ellen brings to her new role a strong track record of success leading teams across our business, including manufacturing, operations and merchandising. She is the right leader to help shape our vision for store operations as we continue investing to grow," said Rodney McMullen, Kroger's chairman and CEO. "Mary Ellen will be a great addition to our senior leadership team."

Kroger has been expanding with new store concepts, such as the small urban format Main & Vine that opened last month near Seattle and the $800 million acquisition of Roundy's.
