Kohl's promotes three senior exec-VPs

Three Kohl's senior exec-VPs have been promoted to newly created principal officer positions, and the retailer is still looking for a COO. Michelle Gass has been named to the newly created principal officer position of Chief Merchandising and Customer Officer, which gives her responsibility of all Kohl's merchandising, planning and allocation, and product development. She will retain her previous oversight of the company's customer engagement and marketing strategy, public relations and social media plan.

As Gass' responsibilities expand and the hunt for a COO continues, Kevin Mansell, Kohl's chairman, CEO and president, will assume the duties related to digital and e-commerce strategies as well as COO responsibilities, such as store operations, logistics and supply chain network, information and digital technology, and store construction and design.

"Kohl's had previously announced an external search for a new chief merchandising officer," Mansell said. "However, during the course of this search, it became apparent that Michelle's passion for merchandising and new brand acquisition made her the perfect leader for our product and merchandising functions."

Wesley McDonald has also been promoted to the principal officer position of chief financial officer, previously serving as senior exec-VP, chief financial officer. McDonald will continue to report to Mansell and oversee Kohl's financial planning and analysis, investor relations, financial reporting, accounting, tax, treasury, non-merchandise purchasing, credit and capital investment strategies.

Richard Schepp will also move up to the principal officer position of chief administrative officer, taking responsibility for human resources, legal, risk management and compliance, real estate and business development. He was formerly the senior exec-VP of human resources, general counsel and secretary. Schepp will continue reporting directly to Mansell. Press Release
