Juicy Couture to expand internationally, open first girl's store

Juicy Couture is planning to open 31 international stores this year, including its first Girl's store, with 133 more stores slated to open in the next five years, racking up to a potential 335 Juicy Couture locations globally by the end of 2020.

The locations for the planned stores include eight new countries, including three countries in which the retailer will make its brick-and-mortar debut—India, South Africa and Azerbaijan, reported Women's Wear Daily.

Juicy Couture has obtained licensing partners in these countries.

There are currently 199 freestanding Juicy Couture shops in other countries, in addition to the shop-in-shops and outlet stores located in 60 countries, including the United States.

The brand will open its first freestanding Juicy Couture Girl's store in Azerbaijan this spring.

"We are kicking our Juicy Couture retail strategy into high gear with both new and long-term partnerships," Jamie Salter, chairman and CEO of Authentic Brands Group, told Women's Wear Daily. Authentic Brands Group acquired Juicy in 2013 for $195 million, and last summer Juicy Couture announced that it would shutter all U.S. stores and focus on international operations, such as its "pink label" product line to be sold at Kohl's (NYSE:KSS). Its premium "black label" goods are being sold in the standalone stores.
