Home Depot was named the top internet retailer of the year at the inaugural Internet Retailer Excellence Awards. The chain beat out big e-commerce players such as Amazon and Walmart based on performance in several metrics, including a 37 percent increase in sales in 2014, twice the growth rate of Amazon. In addition, Home Depot added $1 billion in Web sales in 2014, with online sales now accounting for 4.5 percent of all transactions.
