H&M's sister brands, & Other Stories and COS, are both expanding throughout the United States. At the end of this month, & Other Stories will open a two-level Manhattan store at the site of a former H&M.
On the corner of Fifth Avenue and 42nd, the store will span 9,700 sq. ft. at the former H&M site, Women's Wear Daily reported. COS will take up the remaining square footage in the location. H&M has pledged to open 54 new U.S. stores by the end of 2015, four of which will be under the COS banner.
The date marks one year since H&M opened its largest flagship in the world in New York City.
& Other Stories will soon be opening two stores, one on M Street NW in the District of Columbia and another at the World Trade Center. The chain operates independently of H&M. The first U.S. store opened last October on Broadway in New York City's SoHo neighborhood.
Thus far a successful year, H&M announced a 36 percent jump in profits in the first quarter and remains committed to opening 400 new stores this year.
