GNC Reports 17 Percent Increase in Third-Quarter Profit

GNC (NYSE: GNC) reported a 17 percent increase in profit and higher sales in the third quarter, driven by increased same-store sales, strong e-commerce growth and higher foot traffic in stores. The Pittsburgh-based operator of nutrition supplements stores said its net income rose 76 cents a share to $73 million. Revenue rose 9 percent to $675.6 million, missing forecasts for $690.8 million.
