Gap to provide room service in Virgin Hotels

Gap (NYSE:GAP) is partnering with Virgin Hotels to provide guests with fashion room service through the hospitality group's mobile app.

The program adds another layer to Gap's online feature that locates an item at the nearest store and then reserves items for in-store pickup. Hotel guests can now access the feature through Virgin's "Lucy" app on the hotel's website. Once product and size selection is final, shoppers simply click the Reserve Now button and the hotel takes it from there, delivering the goods to the guest's room.

"We're thrilled to be a part of Gap's first-ever Reserve in Store program for travelers. Virgin Hotels aims to bring innovation and change to the hotel industry, all while enhancing and easing the guest's stay. Having your trip's wardrobe delivered straight to your Chamber, all by clicking a button, is a service we know our guests will love," said Doug Carrillo, VP of sales and marketing at Virgin Hotels.

Through this partnership, our goal is to provide shoppers convenience, ease and on-trend fashions, all through the touch of a button."

A special promotion to kick off the program will feature looks styled by Gap's styld.by editors, a selection of fashion bloggers the retailer partners with on social media for digital promotions. Virgin Hotels' new Chicago location is the backdrop for the photo promotion, and special offers will be extended to members of the hotel chain's loyalty club.

Fast, personalized delivery is a staple for many retailers, particularly supermarkets. And while boutique hotels are expanding their offerings beyond forgotten toiletries and beachwear, this in-room service from a national retailer looks to be a first.
