Gap's New TV Ads Feature Musicians Whose Dads You've Heard Of

Gap (NYSE:GPS) is back on TV for the first time in four years. On Monday (Sept. 16) the largest U.S. specialty apparel retailer unveiled new Gap commercials that feature musicians performing songs their fathers made famous: Alexa Ray Joel, singing Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are" and Dhani Harrison, son of Beatle George Harrison, performing "For You Blue." The ads, which will run until Oct. 13, were shot in single takes in the studio and feature minimal editing, and are intended to promote Gap's fall Back to Blue denim campaign. And if you don't recognize the younger musicians' names, well, you're probably not alone. Gap chief marketing officer Seth Farbman told Bloomberg that viewers might not recognize the performers in the new ads, but they probably have heard of The Beatles. Story
