Gamestop promotes SVP to president of US stores

GameStop's SVP of human resources has been promoted to president of U.S. stores, giving him responsibility for the retail chain's more than 2,000 locations.

Buskey joined GameStop in 2010, building out the retailer's overall organizational capabilities in his human resources role. He has experience with both operations and HR, helping him improve strategic alliances in the organization to get better business results.

Before joining GameStop, Buskey was SVP of human resources for U.S. store operations at Home Depot, taking responsibility for leading the company's HR activities across about 2,000 domestic stores. He also served in operations roles at Oshman Sporting Goods, Circuit City and Wherehouse Entertainment.

The promotion comes on the heels of a relatively positive holiday season for the retailer, as sales declined but not as much as predicted in the face of competition from other retailers and digital game downloads, thanks in part to digital initiatives. Story
