Fred's names Bryan Pugh chief merchant

Fred's has announced a series of executive changes, including the appointment of Bryan Pugh (right) as chief merchandising and marketing officer, Craig Barnes to executive VP of supply chain, global and domestic logistics and Mike Holligan to executive VP of store operations.

Pugh has 30 years of retail experience, including serving as chief merchandising officer at Walgreens during a six year period with the drug store chain. He also worked for Tesco as executive VP of operations for Fresh and Easy Neighborhood Markets, as well as chief operating officer and senior VP of merchandising and marketing for Tesco Lotus Stores.

Barnes was promoted from his role leading profit and loss management, supply chain and store operations management, global logistics sourcing and inventory management. Before joining Fred's he held executive roles at Autozone, CarQuest and Delphi Automotive.

Finally, Mike Holligan spent 18 years with Walmart before joining Fred's. He has since served as a district manager and regional VP of store operations, helping lead store labor savings and inventory control.
