Former JCPenney CMO joins Yahoo

Debra Berman will be filling a newly-created position at Yahoo—senior VP of consumer marketing. Berman will be responsible for product marketing, audience engagement and consumer brand strategy, reporting to Kathy Savitt, Yahoo's chief marketing officer and head of media.

"Debra's extensive background in helping brands define and connect with consumers, coupled with her data and analytics-driven approach to drive marketing performance, makes her an ideal fit for this role," said Savitt in a company blog post.

With over 20 years of marketing experience, Berman served previously as the chief marketing officer at JCPenney and Kraft's VP of marketing strategy and engagement. She also has prior experience in advertising, brand strategy and management consulting.

Berman has received various awards over the years, including one of the Brand Innovators Top 50 Women in Marketing in 2014 and 2015, American Marketing Association's DFW CMO of the Year in 2014 and the 2012 AdAge Media Maven. Story
