eBay Chief Backtracks on Holiday Spending Comments

eBay CEO John Donahoe is backtracking on comments eBay executives made on last week's earnings call about a "cautious holiday outlook". Donahoe felt the need to explain himself after eBay's stock price dropped 5 percent last week. "We try to under-promise and over-deliver. We try to be very consistent in having a conservative outlook … but we didn't intend to be that negative," Donahoe told AllThingsD. "I don't think we are seeing anything different than others are seeing; we just report first. No one really knows what to expect for the holiday season," he added. Story
