Dollar General (NYSE:DG) hosted its an inaugural A Day of Beauty event at the Music City Center in downtown Nashville. The event highlighted the latest hair and makeup products offered at the dollar store chain and featured door prizes, including Dollar General's new health and beauty magazine, BEAUTYCENTS.
The exclusive lifestyle magazine will now be available at select Dollar General stores.
"Dollar General is excited to host this free, fun event for our customers who count on Dollar General for great health and beauty products at everyday low prices," said Makia Embrey, Dollar General's senior manager, customer insights. "We are introducing an array of new multi-cultural hair and beauty products at A Day of Beauty—adding these products to our store shelves at select Dollar General stores, giving our customers more selection and variety as they shop with us for products that will help them look their best and stretch their budget."
The event featured beauty bloggers offering tips, demonstrations and best practices for product use. Also, representatives from brands such as L'Oreal USA, Maybelline/Garnier and Unilever were providing information and free product samples. The new magazine included Dollar General coupons.
This spring Dollar General announced an increase in working hours for employees and an expansion into three new states as the chain prepares to take on the recently merged Family Dollar (NYSE:FDO) and Dollar Tree (NASDAQ:DLTR) stores.
