Chutes & Ladders: American Apparel's CEO swap; eBay, PayPal get their own presidents

> American Apparel announced that it has hired Scott Brubaker, managing director at Alvarez & Marsal, as its interim CEO following the ousting of controversial CEO and founder Dov Charney three months ago, as a result of alleged misuse of funds and possible sexual harassment of a former employee. John Luttrell, who originally served as the retailer's interim CEO, has resigned. Turnaround firm Alvarez & Marsal was recently hired by hedge fundd and shareholder Standard General to aid the company's finance department. Story

 

> After announcing its split with PayPal, eBay named Devin Wenig, currently president of eBay Marketplaces, as CEO of the new eBay company, where he will lead the eBay Marketplaces and eBay Enterprise businesses. EBay also hired Dan Schulman, who was president of American Express's Enterprise Growth Group, to be PayPal's new CEO-designee once the separation of the two companies is complete. Story

 

> Bon-Ton expanded its Board to ten members by unanimously electing Beth Grumbacher, effective Oct. 1. She has held various management and sales positions at several national and regional firms in the retail and apparel industries. She has been involved in the ownership of a small retail operation and most recently aided the design and manufacturing of a girls' clothing line. Press release

> Hibbett Sports has promoted Jared Briskin to SVP and chief merchant, replacing Rebecca Jones who left the company. Briskin has been with the retailer for 16 years, working as a buyer and progressing to VP divisional merchandise manager of footwear and equipment before his current promotion. The company didn't share any other information on Jones' departure. She joined Hibbett as VP of merchandise in Aug. 2009. Press release

> Men's Wearhouse has named three new executives: Scott Norris is president of Men's Wearhouse Brand and Moores Brand, Paul Fitzpatrick is president of Jos. A. Bank's Brand, and Jim Thorne is now executive VP of direct sourcing. All three will report to Mary Beth Blake, president and chief marketing officer for Men's Wearhouse. Norris was previously executive VP merchandising for Men's Wearhouse, Moores and tuxedo rental from 2011 to 2014, Fitzpatrick was most recently president and COO of ESP Group from 2010 to 2013, while Thorne has been executive VP merchandising and chief merchandising officer for Jos. A. Bank since 2009. Press release

> Walmart's Board of Directors has named Kevin Systrom as its newest member, effective Sept. 26. Systrom, an entrepreneur, software engineer and co-founder of Instagram, becomes the 15tth member of the Board and will also serve as a member of the company's Technology and eCommerce Committee and its Compensation, Nominating and Governance Committee (CNGC). Currently, he is CEO of Instagram where he is responsible for daily operations and overseeing growth. Press release
