Chico's finds new CEO in Walmart vet

Shelley Broader has been named president and CEO of Chico's FAS, effective Dec. 1. She succeeds David Dyer, who will become vice chairman.

Broader has more than 25 years of leadership experience in global and regional retail businesses. She was most recently president and CEO of Walmart's EMEA region, responsible for retail operations and business development of 1,345 retail units across Europe, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa and Canada.

Her other leadership experience at Walmart includes president and CEO of Walmart Canada, chief merchandising officer for Walmart Canada, and senior VP of Sam's Club.

"As we thank Dave for his years of fine service, we are also delighted to welcome Shelley to the Chico's FAS team," said David Walker, Chico's chairman. "She brings a remarkable track record, with a global perspective and a keen understanding of how to engage consumers and partner with suppliers to drive profitable growth in a competitive retail environment."

Prior to Walmart, Broader was president and COO of arts and crafts retailer Michael's, where she standardized processes and better aligned operations to fit customers' seasonal buying patterns.

Broader also has experience in the food retailing industry and spent 17 years with the Delhaize Group. She held leadership roles across nearly all functions, including president and COO of the Kash n' Karry chain, which she is credited with rebranding into Sweetbay Supermarkets as part of a complete turnaround.

As part of her appointment as Chico's CEO, Broader will also become a member of the board of directors. Press Release
