Brookstone appoints Thomas Via CEO

Brookstone announced that Thomas Via will take over the role of president and CEO, and will also take a position on the board of directors, effective December 1, 2014. He replaces Steven Schwartz, who served as interim CEO and will return to his role as chief merchandising officer.

"We are extremely pleased that Tom will be leading Brookstone," said Piau Phang Foo, chairman of the board. "We conducted a broad search and interviewed several highly qualified candidates. We were impressed by Tom's success at rejuvenating businesses and by his broad and deep achievements as a senior executive in the retail industry. He has demonstrated success at driving innovation and growth globally. We are also grateful to Steve Schwartz, who held the reins so capably, particularly as we enter our busiest season."

Via previously worked for Toys R Us for 12 years, most recently as senior VP for Babies R Us in the United States. In that role he was responsible for leading the company's juvenile product growth strategy in addition to serving on the Global Commercial Committee. Press release
