Barneys New York is expanding its presence in San Francisco to include a freestanding men's store, scheduled to open next spring. After the opening, the women's store will be remodeled throughout 2016 and 2017.
The 60,000 sq. ft. store in San Francisco first opened in 2007, Women's Wear Daily reported. The five-level flagship is one block from the city's premier shopping district, Union Square.
The new men's store will be house in a street-level space and will be joined with the women's store. In the redesigned women's store, shoes and accessories will move from the ground to a new destination floor, opening up more space for these categories. The women's store will also have a Fred's restaurant on the top floor.
Barneys is continuing to build a flagship in Manhattan on Seventh Avenue and 16th Street, also slated to open in 2016.
Barneys joins a growing list of retailers that are boosting their menswear offerings as men's interest in fashion and apparel continues to grow in popularity. One retailer that recently added to their men's collection is Lululemon (NASDAQ:LULU), which opened its first men's only store in Manhattan on Black Friday last year.
