Barnes & Noble, Microsoft scale back partnership

Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) will stop offering a stand-alone Nook app for Windows and instead deliver Nook media to Microsoft's Consumer Reader app. The bookseller will cooperate with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) to transition users to the Microsoft Consumer Reader. The deal is an update to a partnership formed two years ago and will result in an e-reading app potentially from Microsoft Office and Xbox that would use content from Nook Media. Story
