Apple's new retail chief gets $68M payday

Angela Ahrendts has finally joined Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) as the new VP of Retail and was welcomed to the company with a stock options grant worth about $68 million, according to a regulatory filing late Monday.

Why such a high price for Ahrendts? The former Burberry CEO ran the show at the globally recognized British brand from 2007 until her departure for Apple. During her tenure, sales doubled and the stock price tripled as she moved the brand upscale. The Indiana native and Ball State University alumna has received accolades for her business acumen and her success with such labels as Liz Claiborne and Donna Karan. She ranked 53rd on Forbes's 2013 list of the most powerful women in the world. Story
