Is anyone buying Amazon's Fire smartphone?

It seems that Amazon's (NASDAQ: AMZN) Fire smartphone has dramatically underperformed since its July 25 release. According to a report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, it's possible that Amazon has sold just a few thousand units.

To be clear, Amazon has yet to release any sales results for the product, but CIRP surveyed a small number (500) of Amazon shoppers and found that none had purchased the Fire phone. "Effectively zero percent own an Amazon Fire phone," said Mike Levin, a partner and co-founder at CIRP. "In contrast, approximately one quarter of U.S. Amazon customers have either or both of a Kindle Fire tablet and Kindle Reader, and about 5 percet report owning the new Amazon Fire TV set-top box."
