Amazon to expand to larger office in Toronto skyscraper

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) will open an office in one of Toronto's newest skyscrapers. The 127,000 sq. ft. space, occupying five floors near the top of 120 Bremner Blvd.—a 31-story glass tower south of the core district—can hold up to 800 employees.

Amazon previously rented space in the city's west end, where it housed software developers, engineers and programmers, reported Bloomberg.

The largest e-commerce retailer in the world will be joining other big brands, including Apple, migrating to Toronto's south core district. The Bremner tower is one of four new office buildings to open in the area by 2016.

Amazon's website is currently posting 100 jobs for developers, engineers and salespeople for the greater Toronto area.

Amazon also has an office on Canada's west coast in downtown Vancouver. The new lease is for 156,000 sq. ft. and enough space for 1,000 employees.

Amazon has been beefing up its international presence in 2015. Last week the retailer announced the opening of its second store on Alibaba's (NYSE:BABA) e-commerce platform, Tmall. And the company plans to open offices in South Korea as early as this month.
