Amazon offers shoppers cash back

Now customers shopping on Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) will be able to get cash back thanks to the e-commerce giant's new partnership with Ibotta. The U.S. retail shopping app will give users cash rebates when they shop for a range of products directly on

Ibotta currently has 6 million consumers on its mobile app. Users can download the app for free, check which Amazon products have rebates available and then follow the link to make a purchase through the normal checkout system. Ibotta will verify the purchase with Amazon and then puts the cash directly into the user's Ibotta account, often on the same day.

Cash back is becoming an increasingly popular option for m-commerce. For example, Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) recently launched Twitter Offers, which gives customers redeemable social deals added to their credit or debit card straight from their timeline. An offer is tied to their card, allowing shoppers to simply swipe their card at the store in question and get cash back on their statement within a few days.

"We're extremely excited about the partnership with Amazon," said Bryan Leach, Ibotta's CEO. "Our deep partnerships with leading brands and our ability to provide a unique and seamless experience for our users when they shop on really make this a great fit—especially for Ibotta users looking to earn cash back when they shop online."

Ibotta is available for download at the Apple or Android store.

Earlier this week, Amazon launched a new Surprise! App, which allows users to send e-cards to family and friends for special occasions such as birthdays and, of course, the upcoming holiday season.
