Amazon launches Home Services

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) has announced the launch of Home Services, a new marketplace for on-demand professional services. The platform allows shoppers to purchase and schedule services ranging from house cleanings to electronics installments.

The "pros" are picked by Amazon and offer up front pricing on prepackaged services. All of the providers are background checked, have insurance and are held to a high performance standard.

Each entry includes customer reviews written by shoppers that have made verified purchases. Amazon's "Happiness Guarantee" aims to ensure that the company will work with customers and pros to deliver quality results.

Amazon guarantees matched pricing to customers who find a lower price for the same service and pro. Shoppers can add the job to their Amazon shopping cart but will not be charged until service is completed.

Amazon Home Services is now available in major U.S. metropolitan areas including New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Amazon continues to launch new platforms as it endeavors to compete with other online marketplaces on fast delivery, products and services. Just last week the e-commerce giant announced the Dallas expansion of its one-hour delivery service, which recently launched in Baltimore and Miami and began in New York in December of 2014.
