Amazon expands Prime Now to Seattle, delivers booze

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) officially launched Prime Now, a one-hour delivery service, in the Seattle area. The launch also marks the debut of beer, wine and liquor delivery within the cities where Prime Now is available.

Customers can now choose from a selection of alcohol when they order the one or two-hour delivery service, GeekWire reported.

Talk surfaced about the impending launch in Seattle several months ago. The location near Amazon headquarters makes it a great location for testing out new ideas. Prime Now will be available in Seattle and the surrounding areas of Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland.

Seattle is the tenth city to receive Prime Now and the only one on the West Coast. The service first launched in Manhattan in December and began service in Chicago last month.

Prime Now operates every day from 8 a.m. until midnight, and is available to consumers through the Prime Now app. The membership program costs $99 a year and a minimum order of $20 is required. One-hour delivery is $7.99 and two-hour delivery is free.
